North Peak on Superstition Mountain is the second most popular side trip for those climbing Siphon Draw. (The most popular is Flatiron.) If you start climbing Siphon Draw early in the day, you should have enough time to do both Flatiron, and North Peak and even hike a little way east on the Superstition Ridgeline trail. Assuming you have enough energy and water to safely do so.

Allow about half an hour just to get up and down. It took me 15 minutes up and 12 minutes down. Plan on 45 minutes to an hour so you have time to relax and enjoy the 360° views. You'll be looking down at Weaver's Needle and can see: Saguaro Lake, the dacite cliff at Canyon Lake, etc. You also need resting time to recover from the climb up Siphon Draw! If your tired on the way down, you're more likely to fall.

Once you've been on top of North Peak, you'll feel a sense of accomplishment everytime you see it when driving by: "I've been up there". Note that climbing Siphon Draw to North Peak is strongly discouraged by the Forest Service: "There have been several serious injuries, as people tried to follow a route that climbs up the side of the mountain. Don’t go there." As you can see from the crowd in photo 9, they've not been very successful. There were seven people in four groups eating lunch on the peak--two guys in their 20's, three in their late 50's and two in their late 60's. That's not to minimize the danger and effort required to get to the top of Siphon Draw and then safely back down.
