The Cliff Dwelling in Roger's Canyon is the second largest one in the Greater Superstitions and the only one within the current Superstition Wilderness area. (The largest Cliff Dwellings in the area are the two at Tonto National Monument above Lake Roosevelt.)

There are two common routes to the Roger's Canyon Cliff Dwelliing. The longer and harder hike is from the Woodbury Trailhead. The shorter and hike is from Roger's Trough trailhead. However, a 4WD high-clearance vehicle is needed to get to Roger's trailhead, while most of the time, high clearance is sufficient to get to Woodbury Trailhead. This is a popular backpacking trip and there are good camping spots at Angel Basin. However, there isn't reliable water although there can be flowing water in the creek after rains.

The Forest Service interpretive sign at the Roger's Canyon Cliff Dwelling says:

Rogers Canyon Cliff Dwelling.
This prehistoric cliff dwelling was constructed and occupied by Salado Indians approximately 600 years ago. This site is fragile and irreplaceable. Please do not climb or walk on the walls, roof, or cause any other form of disturbance or damage. This site is protected by federal law. Violators are subject to fines or imprisonment. Enjoy but do not destroy your cultural heritage
Tonto National Forest

It's a dangerous climb to the upper and larger Cliff Dwelling at Rogers Canyon. If someone in your party falls, you're 4 miles from the Roger's Trough trailhead, an hour's drive from cell phone service, and even farther away from emergency services.
