The JF-Trail in the Superstition Wilderness is 10.2 miles in length. It is seldom hiked straight through from one end to the other since the trailheads are so far apart that a vehicle shuttle isn't feasible and few would consider it worth a 20.4 mile back & forth hike. The northern trailhead is at Tortilla Ranch, the southern is at Woodbury Ranch.

These photos are of the trail out of the Tortilla Ranch Trailhead to Tortilla Pass. FR-213 south from the Apache Trail (SR-88) is 4WD - high clearance ONLY due to rock ledges. Add 6 miles RT, if you need to start hiking from the parking lot at the junction of the Apache Trail and FR-213.

This trail is lightly traveled and somewhat overgrown with sections where it may be somewhat difficult to follow the path. A GPS track is available at: Michael Thorne's set of GPS Tracks for the Superstitions. It's 12.6 miles roundtrip from Tortilla Ranch at the end of FR-213 to Tortilla Pass. The starting/ending point is 3200 feet. The high at Tortilla Pass is 4500 feet.

The JF-Trail is named after cattleman Jack Fraser who ran cattle in the 1890's out of the still existing J-F Ranch near the Woodbury Trailhead.
